A poor widow once lived in a little cottage with a garden in front of it, in which grew two rose trees, one bearing white roses and the other red. She had two children, who were just like the two rose trees; one was called Snow-white and the other Rose-red, and they were the sweetest and best children in the world, always diligent and always cheerful...

My entry for , based on the fairy tale Snow White and Rose Red. Snow White and Rose Red are entreated by a Bear in the middle of winter to allow him to stay with them; they are afraid at first but grow to trust and love the bear. Eventually, the bear turns out to be a prince, and after the girls help recover the Bears' treasure he turns into his rightful shape and marries Snow White. Rose Red marries his brother. (Jeez, poor Rose Red.)

I love fairy tales and I really wanted to do this contest. I hemmed and hawed for weeks over an appropriate fairy tale, but I simply couldn't think of a good one with a composition which I liked. I thought of my favorite, the 12 dancing princesses, which would have been great to do with the senshi + amazons as princess (-1 Serenity, as the "Queen" not a princess) But it would have taken me WAY too long. Months, probably. I thought of bearskin with Helios/Chibi-Usa, but Helios is a little too pretty for bearskin, even as a pony. ._. I thought of the same coupling with Rapunzel, but nothing struck me as a good composition, and apparently Rapunzel is very popular anyway.

I don't even remember what made me think of this fairy tale, but it immediately struck me as being a lot like Ami-chan and Rei-chan. And the composition (The two side by side, with their hands together) popped into my head immediately.
